Stoker Coal Boiler: slant fin steam boiler
Coal Size/Type: anything that will go through the auger on my stoker'
Other Heating: also burn wood in same furnace

I ordered it about 3 weeks ago and they said it would be a minimum of 4 weeks before I got it. Fortunately my JB weld on my cracked slant fin is still holding. The slant fin has a 9" flue pipe on it and the KC has a 10" hole on the back. Can I go 10" to the chimney and then reduce to 9" or will I need to make a bigger hole? Was wondering the easiest way to get it down the basement. This old house has an entrance from outside - straight shot with 8 steps. Thank you.

When i put my coal gun in the basement just used 2x6 to make ramp over the stairs. I had the boiler on some wheeled carts and used a winch hooked up to my car and lowered it down

You should be able to lay some planks on the basement steps and lower it down with the help of a tractor, pickup, etc. These things are heavy, so make sure you are careful. Once it is in the basement lift each corner with a bar and put pipes under it - then roll into position.

I wasn't brave enough to go downstairs on wheels. I used a plywood sled down a ramp over the stairs.

The last time I read a Keystoker manual it said you could reduce the flue pipe diameter at the thimble. You might want to confirm that directly with the factory on the phone.

A KC-10 is quite a bit heavier than an AHS-130 or an EFM 520. If oliver power's numbers are correct - How Much Does It Weigh? - it's more like an AA-260. You probably can take some off the 1505 lb for handling the stoker separately, but it's not like an EFM for which you can take a lot off for the stoker and more for the base. In other words, be really careful with how you rig it, brace the stairs, and don't put manpower in the landing zone. If you have any doubts, use of a reasonably stout loader, or paying a few $ for help from an auto wrecker, could minimize some of the risks.

Good luck.

Thanks for the ideas. I actually put in concrete steps this summer and they will hold a semi! Keystoker said it weighs 1400 #. I was thinking of a ramp and winch as being the best instead of using some kind of a dolly.
They also said I could go to 9" right at the chimney.

Sounds like a plan. You can roll it on pipes once on the floor. Have help around, you don't want to get pinched fast moving something like that around by yourself.
