Should i order 1" pex and fittings for the baseboards?
3/4" pex has a much smaller inside diameter than 3/4" copper.
want to do this right the first time.
back to it in a few minutes.
the cpvc glue was getting to me lol had to take a break.

It depends upon the total run length your single longest zone loop, and the capabilities of your circulator, and how many BTUH you need to deliver within this loop alone.

it's 55 foot of baseboard, original house, under 800 sq foot, 26'x33' is the first zone i will be installing. the other zone will be the water to air heat exchanger for the addition till i can afford the rest of the baseboard. third zone will be the garage.

What will be the total run length in feet for this loop? (PEX plus baseboards, etc..., from circulator out to circulator in)

looks like my engine hoist will work fine for moving the efm 350 into place.....got 26" between legs, boiler is 24" wide.

mostly done with the plumbing, need to run a non softened line to the outside faucet and to the garage. also have to do final hookups to well pump and the addition and front bathroom.
also have to install the drain for the water softener. going to put the trap in the bathroom closet. want that trap to be higher than the shower trap and the toilet.

need to install the mixing valve too but need to fix the wall and waterproof before i add a piece of plywood to mount the boiler plumbing.

worked 14 hrs today on the house.....pooped.

I believe that 3/4" PEX should suffice for a higher head capable circulator such as the Grundfos Alpha. I'm assuming 0.681" ID. The Alpha can deliver 3 GPM into 15 Ft. of friction head. For comparison, the Taco 007 can only deliver 3 GPM into 9 feet of friction head.

3 GPM should carry 30,000 BTUH at a Delta_T of 20 degrees. 30,000/55 = 545 BTUH per foot of HWB.

55 feet of HWB on a single zone should witness right around a 20 degree Delta_T (or temperature drop).

30,000/800 = 37.5 BTUH per sq-ft of floor space. The equivalent of 11 Watts per sq-ft for the case of electric baseboards.

If your area has ~5,700 annual HDD's, which is what I'm seeing for downtown Birdsboro provided that I'm doing the search correctly, then you might find that 25 BTUH per sq-ft is sufficient. That would be 2 GPM flow through your zone. If your elevation is greater than Birdsboro you will experience greater than 5,700 HDD's.

If you insist upon putting a Taco 007 on the 55 ft of HWB and 120 ft of run zone loop, it would be best if you use 1" PEX.

got to work on the project a few hours today.
the well tank is wobbly, going to build a bracket to bolt to the pump bracket and attach that to a 2x4 screwed to the floor joist.
paid a plumber to replace the tank and had to have him back once because i had a leak, and a second time when the one well pipe fitting blew apart. he said he was on vacation and he could not help me.
he had the tank supported by the water line! quoted me $450 dollars, charged me $800 dollars. Never again!

wish i knew a plumber to come check my work after the boiler is installed.
anyone here? is it worth a case of beer and gas money?
