Someone welded in the oil burner port?

I would save your money on the stoker. The S15 unit will be just fine.

scrapper built this and sold it a few yrs ago and took it in on a trade recently. it's got a new base too.

it's not costing any more for the upgrades. it's a package deal and he's giving me spare parts too. new stainless auger pipes too.

i know i'm flip flopping all over here. i am a maniac lol

scott had a 520 for a real good price but he is in new york 5 hrs away, i don't trust my truck to make the trip. i thought about loading the boiler in the grand caravan but i'm not sure i could get it out with a cherry picker when i got home. plus is it safe to strap a boiler to the seat belt straps in a minivan lol.
i would have to rent a truck and that is going to cost about 200 for a weekend rental. plus fuel

this one is ready to go, the covers need to be painted, but they are in decent shape yet. it's more than the other efm but i know if i run into any problems steve will help me out. he always came thru when i showed up at his doorstep with a broken efm af-150 stoker. i put so much coal thru that pot that it had to be redone a few times, we never did get it apart, had two torches on it one night. i used to just get help and yank out the entire stoker and run it down the street.

NICE!

I saw that one the last time I was there. Probably the only DF 350 on the planet! :o I think you made the right decision, finally. I am confident the this boiler with a Scrapper rebuilt stoker will give you many years of trouble free heat.

I have the same unit but no oil burner unit.
Bought it from Scrapper in 2008 and I am pleased with it.

i'm really looking forward to getting this boiler home and cleaned up and painted and installed and getting away from the stove with the powervent.
checked the stove a little while ago and the hopper had condensation in it. it's been damp and rainy here the past few days and the blower fan on the powervent got built up with ash.
did the usual monthly vacuum out the stove pipe and clean and lube the powervent.
the efm 350 is going to go up the block chimney in the middle of the house.

found some cast iron radiators for 50 dollars each, they are 38" high and 32, 30, 28, 14, 14, 10. they are the flame design ones like don has, 3 row cores, 9" thick.

any idea on btu's?
i could use the narrow ones for bathrooms and laundry. would the 32" be enough to heat the upstairs room (400sq ft) and the 30 for the dining room (10x20) and the 28 for the den. (12'6'x14')

i would need a radiator for the living room, two for 12x12 bedrooms and one for the basement.

the kitchen (10x20) has no wall space for radiators so i pan on using a kickspace heater under the sink. can't do radiant, when i put the 1/4" plywood down in 1991 the underlayment nails were too long and went thru the 3/4" plywood.

My son and i took a life sustaining trip to Ravine Pennsylvania today to pick up the EFM 350.
Steve had the boiler all ready to load when we got there.
from my house to scrappers shop and back it's a little under 100 miles. the 89 f-250 burned 3/4 of a tank of non ethanol fuel lol.

the boiler and base look good and the paint is fine, i just need to clean and paint the covers and put the boiler together.
everything is off the truck but the boiler vessel.
my son and two friends are coming tomorrow afternoon to help me get the boiler vessel down the basement steps and on the base.
the domestic coil is brand new and so is the motor. he gave me a spare motor too.
steve lent me his hook so i can get it down the steps, i gotta go back and get a cover for the stoker, we forgot that part, i also need some brass nuts for the domestic coil....well i would assume brass nuts would be best there?

Steel nuts with some anti-seize will work fine.

Any kind of insulation will work. On my VA-600 I used a big water heater blanket from H.D. and cut it to fit. I stuffed some Roxwool insulation in the gaps.

On the question of your second boiler return port, you can go one of two ways.
1) Make a crossover pipe to go between the two returns and plumb the bypass into it.
2) Just run the bypass into the second port.

The second way is easier and still keeps that part of the boiler circulating.
