GAEYAELE GRT8-S1 timer - $15.38 via eBay. Had to wait a month for the slow boat, but there are other places to buy these if you don't want to wait.
Honeywell Relay box, wire, DIN rail - free (pulled from scrap pile).
In about 20 minutes I had the timer ready to go. Figured I would share the info for anyone looking for a cost effective timer. Should work well for a hold-fire timer, and many other applications.

I've been using that same timer for almost a year, Rob. It works great so far...

The timer is probably not needed at all, but it will make you feel better. If you had installed the timer from the get-go you could have skipped the primary/secondary ghost flow drama.

You mean installed it on the primary loop?
So if I'm reading between the lines here you are saying forget the primary/secondary circuit and just push the heat from the basement on one loop..

I picked up a similar one for less than $20 after seeing nepacoal's thread. It replaced a mechanical timer and is housed in the old enclosure. I us mine on the pump for the fake stream the spousal unit wanted for a water feature. It has all kinds of timer settings you can use, i just went for the simple run it for 1/2 hour each night to keep the water circulated through the underground reservoir. It also will make sure the pump shuts off if somebody turned it on through the day and forgot to turn it off.

The manual is pretty straightforward.

I will see if I can do a video covering some other things.
