Ohh well that makes more sense.. we just had three nights of -10 so that wouldn’t work here lolCAL wrote: ↑Thu. Dec. 26, 2019 12:43 pmthat's the cost of the boiler I installed myself. no dhw.
as far as other heat source I do not. I have a 44 x 64 spray foamed and have never seen it get much below 40 deg. our average delaware temp in January is 44/27. if I had to a small electric space heater would be sufficient to keep from freezing. the boiler is in a 24x34' building and is staying about 68 deg just from running the boiler with insulated jacket. I'm cant stress enough how well spray foam works!

I think you guys misunderstood each other. Rob I think you mean the cover over the actual auger drive mechanism and air adjust and I think CAL thought perhaps you were talking about the insulated cabinet over the entire boiler.
That’s what I seen anyhow.

I should note that Ben, the main person behind this boiler at DS was running the one at his house off of batteries and a small solar panel for those of you concerned about using electricity.

Results of the first ton burned;
lasted 18 days or 111 pounds per day.
probably warmer than average 18 days but I'm happy for 4000 sq ft. so happy to not be feeding the forest eater!

I had the largest central boiler made. 10 years old and already started welding leaks! A new one is like $15000. so much for "free heat"
