864 HDD's
1338 lbs burned overall
~90 lbs. burned for DHW
~1248 lbs. burned for home heating

~1.444 lbs. per HDD

I guess last month wasn't a fluke. Terrible high ash content coal.

Still pretty darn good though. Way better than burning oil. My father in law's coal seems to act like popcorn. Only takes about 75 or 80 pounds of coal to fill a bushel tub. On a plus side, the ash tubs are light as a feather...

I had a load of coal like that once - it came from Hazleton.

Are you still burning the load of Lehigh that was giving you trouble over the summer?

No, it ran out in early June and was supposed to be replaced in kind, but I was down to only a few pails left and my supplier couldn't get a decent price on Lehigh so asked me if I would take Blaschak instead. I accepted. I'd be shocked if this is what Blaschak is selling these days. I have suspicion that it is something other than Blaschak. Either that, or Blaschak is mining somewhere else now, and selling junk.

It's from a small independent operation right outside Hazelton. Seems to burn great, but boy does it create a huge volume of ash. Usually priced a little lower than everyone else's.
