Anybody have good luck with industrial boiler relief valves ?
The cheessy valves that most use work, but they drip.
Any good ones out there? Or do they all leak some ?

The tested and approved relief valves are not supposed to leak. If yours is leaking it probably has some debris in it causing it to drip. If it was made in china-not Taiwan/Formosa that is another matter, as I can provide you with first hand experience with the Chinese made junk. If it does not stop dripping it needs to be sent to the scrapper as the plunger seal is probably damaged/deformed.
You can always buy a new relief valve and a spare from a Buderus boiler dealer.

Never had a drip that was caused by anything but a rust particle that I caused to be wedged in the mating seal surfaces...it would flush away after a try or two by flipping the lever again.
My dripper was on a old bucket a day hot water heater I hastily plumbed in for "testing" purposes...for old boilers I like adding a wye-strainer to catch and collect moving particles...pumps don't like particles either and aren't cheap.

You're on your own as for correct size and price, just bringing food for thought.

I installed mine with a Watts brand relief valve in 2011, and noticed that it was leaking a little once I shut the boiler down. I used B&G valves on my dad's and brother's EFMs, and those are still working great - so I decided to try and find one for my boiler. I managed to score a NOS unit on ebay for $45 and will be installing it before I fire the EFM up for another season.

I thought the code says nothing between the boiler and PRV?McGiever wrote: ↑Thu. Aug. 29, 2019 11:15 amNever had a drip that was caused by anything but a rust particle that I caused to be wedged in the mating seal surfaces...it would flush away after a try or two by flipping the lever again.

Good morning men,
Sorry for this delay, I went to Fla. for the storm.
Rob, I did the same "el'cheapo", valve on my boiler. Nice thing is, it's not to much trouble to swap out ...... Gotta do it .

Not what I was saying but I can see where that could be misunderstood.coaledsweat wrote: ↑Sat. Sep. 07, 2019 8:12 amI thought the code says nothing between the boiler and PRV?
The wye strainer is a system strainer and has flow any time a pump runs.

Well today was the day..... Found a pair of NOS B&G 30 Lb. prv's on flebay for 50 bucks. The one installed on my boiler is holding nicely. The second one will go into my buddys new EFM 700 soon. I'll never use a cheesy el'cheepo again.
