It takes more effort to achieve chimney draw through buck. Chimney draw is already at a minimum when it is still and 96 degrees outside. I would not want to risk CO.
It's going to be a long summer

Larry, why wouldn't you install some of these.
Cost about $200 each, and each will give you around 40 gallons of boiling water per sunny day. These things will not only give you free HW, but they will also take heat out of your roof. You won't need AC in summer.

What do you do when the sun doesn't shine? There is only one place in the USA where the sun shines less than it does in the general area in which I live, and that is Pittsburgh. Seattle Washington has more sunny days that we get.PolarLight wrote: ↑Sun. Aug. 04, 2019 6:19 pmLarry, why wouldn't you install some of these.

Oh, I didn't know tha there in Pittsburg you have no sun at all. Here in Ontario we have sunshine everyday, I would say- too much sun.
Expecting a lot of tomatos this year.

I also think Larry that you don't need a direct sunshine, solar collectors also should work in overcast weather. Pittsburg is about 600miles south from my place. Summer starts earlier and last longer there.

Actually I'm in N/E Ohio. I'm happy with my coal boiler making DHW, provided that the coal complies with my summer needs. I'm in much better shape in that regard now.PolarLight wrote: ↑Sun. I was wrong. Seattle Washington and Pittsburgh PA are about in a dead heat tie for least sunshine. And then comes the Cleveland, Ohio region. But it turns out that Buffalo, NY is the gloomiest of them all.
