1775.15 lbs. coal fed into the Kaa-4 in February. 1031 HDD's. I estimate 3 lbs. per day for DHW and the rest for home heating.

(1775.15-84)/1031= 1.64 lbs. per HDD for home heating only.

1940's cape cod with decent windows (at just under 1,900 ft elevation). No insulation in brick/plaster walls, attic insulated with 12" fiberglass.

I burned too much wood in February to do a realistic coal tale of the tape.

As long as the house was warm, it's a win!

I have the dump trailer loaded and bring it home and bag it in short weights as it easier to carry and dump it in the hopper.

I no longer burn dinosaur juice; I kicked suburban propain to the curb and I know the Sinclair Oil Companies green Brontosaurus Mascot is happy with that.

I am not much help with the amount burned but at least I know it is running correctly with .02-.04 depending on the wind speed.

At the end of the year I will probably look at my scale tickets and bagged coal sales tickets to see how much coal I have purchased; and I know I will be very happy the boiler is running the way it is supposed to after fixing all the problems it had with the bad controls and gauges and the lousy plumbers.

I ran out of buckwheat coal and I have been burning Blashack rice coal and I have much more ash to bag up and put under the tarp.

I have also found a lot of shale in the coal. Do any of you know if Blashack is using a picking belt to get rid of the shale and slate from the reclaimed coal they crush and package or deliver in bulk??
