Not sure how common this is but the digital aquastat on my Grandmother's will not allow you to set the lo temp above 120. Why I have no idea. There is hard limit on it apparently set at the factory. You would need to flash the firmware to change it.
For this boiler the low water temps don't matter because it heats water really quick and it's designed to allow the water to drop to ambient temp. The problem is they never replaced the realys, there is two zones and they cannot be set up for two thermostats. At least this is what the plumber told me but I have my doubts about that too. I was going to replace them myself but she's going on 101 and any investment is iffy. They put that boiler in 4 or 5 years ago and if I knew she was going to be still living at home this long I would of changed them.

with all the led display on the l7224 they should build a clear case for it rather than a metal one

The reason i speak of the clear cover on aquatstat on the 520 i have ,i have the original temp gressure gauge in the front top,(is it accurate or slow responding) I have a return water temperature gauge in a blended return line and i have the l7224 with displays that i can see the boiler temperature. I have a 3 inch gravity circulated primary loop which helps prevent stratification. The operating controller l2774, which controls it all works in mysterious ways (but proper) and that is because i cant see the temperature where the sensor is which is in the middle of the boiler. sometimes a pump won't run while a heating call is in due to water temp being low but i cant see the temp in the sensor . I get all different temp reading and the one that controls it which is likely most accurate i cant see with out taking the cover off. But it all works great .
