In typical residential construction and actual use of the rooms it's not practical in most cases to exclusively have radiant floor heating. But selective radiant floor heating, bathrooms, kitchens and on slab below grade family rooms are good ideas. You have to understand where convection heating with baseboard is good vs. where it is not. Baseboard under windows negates the coal draft effect (good). Baseboard in rooms with very high cathedral ceilings causes all the heat to be up high (bad). You can have radiant heat in a room without the radiant surface being the floor. Properly placed wall or even ceiling mounted radiant panels supplement convection heating well. You must understand the design principles to get it right.

ok, does anyone know what the in slab radiant heating is called that uses the full temp water from the boiler?

Any links? My google skills have fallen short on this one

It's called a 'Hot Foot'.. highest slab temperture that is comfortable is around 85-90*.. you need a mixing valve to moderate the water temp usually.

hahaha, OK thanks. I thought I had read a post that said I could use full temp water for the radiant heat in the slab foundation.
