- Stoker Coal Boiler: EFM 520
- Coal Size/Type: Rice
Hi, I am currently experiencing problems with my EFM 520. The auger I have is a long one and it goes from the pot of the boiler to a 55 gallon drum that we fill with rice coal. We have had this stove for about 11 years. Last winter we replaced the auger pipe and auger. We replaced the auger pipe with the same size diameter pipe in Stainless Steel. We also put a union in the middle of the pipe instead of the bushing. We now are experiencing the auger is shearing shear pins. I am trying to figure out what is causing this. Would it be the coal? The Angle of the pipe and auger?

You'll have to tell us more about your auger. Got some pics? Especially the Union.

Welcome to the forum.
What do you mean by "union" and "bushing" on the pipe? There should only be a pipe coupler. It's cast iron and not only holds the pipes together, it keeps them aligned. If you used something other than the pipe coupler it is possible that the pipes are no longer aligned. This will bind the augers and brake sheer pins.
A picture would help.
