I have been in contact with AHS on and off since last January, I had talked to Mike, then Nathanial and then Caleb,, I have been looking hard at their hand fired units and today I priced the wc70,,, last feb it was priced to me at 5999 and 10 percent discount for "cash" … today I priced the same unit and there is no discount for cash or other means,, you either pay 5999 or you walk,,, I have been in the business of serving the public for 44 years and when someone is ready to pull the trigger, cash or non financed payment will usually get a discount, same with my vrbo rental, but I could not get that today,,,,,,,,,,,,, so...……… I am still in the market,,, maybe a rice burner stoker may be my best route anyway,, I am very undecided right now and waiting on my man from ny to buy my existing wc 130 so I can make my next heating decision.
looking hard at the aa220.. I cant say enough good about how nice Matt was on the phone and he never tired of my questions,,, sometimes service is as important as the sale or product.

- Coal Size/Type: Rice, Chestnut and whatever will fit through the door on the Harman

I think we would all agree that Matt is a good guy, but I don't see any way that an LL AA220 will pull your heat load. You should ask Matt if he has an Axeman Anderson 260M laying around. He used to refurb those ya know.

As far as pricing is concerned...
Your are in prime season...
Just like a beach side rental in the first two weeks of August...
No 10% discount because of high demand...
You can usually get a 2-3% discount off with cash because no CC charges to the merchant...
And not waiting for the check to clear...
The 10% or more discount is to incentivize the off season purchase...

In my experience they have been very helpful when asked. They stand behind their product and have sent me new parts under warranty even this fall which is my 4th heating season. I really struggled in the first year but I did everything the wrong way. Most of my issues have been that I just didn't buy a large enough boiler to suit my heating needs. I (we on this forum) have really come along way to getting the most out of this boiler. Switching from rice to buckwheat this year seems to have really made a huge difference. The power vent set up I have has limited me with draft in the past with rice but this year i have not had an issue. Listen to these guys on here and if this boiler will fit your heating needs then go for it. If your close enough, Dave and or Matt will probably even come over and help with setup.BodyshopPat wrote: ↑Wed. Nov. 14, 2018 5:55 pm

I think he wants the hand fed but is upset with AHS about their sales.. so he is looking to go elsewhere..
I vote for a stoker anyways.. might as well jump to the end from the beginning. Been there done that.

Where are you located? These are heavy buggers, LOL
Don't sweat the seasonal pricing. Campers, motorcycles, heating oil, cars, things like that all run similar cycles.
Sometimes there is a waiting list for coal stoves during the heating season.
Many of us have bought and reconditioned used coal systems. Not just about the money, there is a sense of pride in bringing something back to life. Hands-on yields a good understanding and 'partnership' with our heating systems.
Almost like "Art" LOL.
Good luck on your search.

Any idea as to the year it was made? Does it have the belt drive, or direct drive motor? Round or rectangular hopper?Dave 1234 wrote: ↑Thu. Nov. 15, 2018 8:27 amMy buddy still has the AHS 260S for sale . Its new and on the pallet.

I could probably heat my house and three on either side of it (7 total) with that one! It's a beauty!

I want to in the worst way but I work at Chryslers 4 cylinder engine plant and people aren't buying to many vehicles with 4cyl's these days.....so overtime has been significantly reduced and there is no extra money for another boiler at this time unless I sold mine but wrong time of year I think. Oh, not that S700, I was refering to the S260 a coule replies up
