Now that my KA2 is up and running properly my temp & relief valve is dripping!
Since I have not had to work on the piping since btge install I thought I would ask a question!
Can I just shut down the boiler and close the input and output valves and open the drain a bit to do the change over?

Close feed and drain off all pressure, and then change on the fly. Any water will just glug out with no pressure. Let stove cool enough so no danger of burns.

What Franco said!
Sometimes they start dripping even thought temperature and pressure are within limits.

Have you tried clearing the relief valve by popping it manually while hot? Sometimes junk will get stuck in it. Keep in mind, you'll likely have to close it manually by pushing the pin, so GLOVES ;)

The guys above are correct. If you can open the valve and nothing comes out under pressure, you can pull it, just be ready with the new one, already doped up, and be ready to handle and clean up any leaked out water.

I don't remember...I think there are different length sensor legs, so make sure the replacement fits ;)

A rust partical between sealing surface can allow weep or drip...as said, purge/flush removal if done safely.
Sometimes they fail permanently though.

HW boilers do not have the 'leg'...that is only on T/PRV (temp and press) that's for DHW tank use.
HW boiler has PRV (press only) sized for psi of release and the btu/hr it can vent

Last night I "popped it" a few times and the dripping stopped!

Our boilers are like children. Sometimes they whine a bit and throw an occasional tantrum, but with experience, we learn how to "make it all better" ;)
