No need for permanent gauges to be installed...just install these ports and then only move stem or prob gauge(s) around to measure as or when needed:

Good idea! The greatest precision comes from using the same gauge to read PSI on the inlet and outlet sides of the circulator. Unless you are really lucky, no two gauges ever seem to read exactly the same.

I go by the method suggested earlier....if the house and showers are warm enough the flow must be adequate.

If I wanted to, I can look at the GPM display on my Alpha circulator. I have only looked at it a few times but it seems accurate based on the pipe sizes and what I would expect.

I get what you're saying, and that Alpha display is nice, but one needs 2 separate readings from 2 separate locations to be able to do the math calculations to obtain results through any given pressure dropping point in loop or circuit...such as through a coil, exchangee or other component to know actual performance..

That is why I go by the first method.

Here is a method by which to use a single pressure gauge to measure both inlet and outlet side pressure on your circulator. Close the gauges outlet side valve and open the inlet side valve to read pressure on the suction side of the circulator, and visa-versa.

Nice for simple flow calcs where getting the temp reading is not needed for any BTU calcs...like with coil or exchanger.
But then maybe this is getting a bit beyond the scope of this thread...
