Looking for some advice . I have a new, long run to feed a cast iron radiator . I have extra monoflow ''t's '', should I install two ? One backwards at the feed, and one correctly at the return ?

I want a good push and pull for this long run. The main is 1 1/4'' , the branch will be 3/4'' .

Thanks Dave

Is this just one radiator or multiple radiators? Anything else on this zone? How big is the Radiator?

Dave, I think one would do it, but if you already have two I would use two. Won't hurt.

Why would you need a T if nothing else is on the loop?

Usually there are multiple radiators.

And the question remains....why use a tee if nothing else is on the loop?

It's could be that I'm not explaining this correctly .

This is a tap to be added onto an existing monoflo system.

The ''t'' will be an additional new radiator feed .

One ''t'' for supply, one for return .

Dave

PS
{ i'm a lineman in real life , this is just play for me. }
so the teminology is prob off, sorry.

This is how I did all of my Rads. You should only need two if your dropping below the loop, like a basement.

Also, the distance of the two tee’s is important, they need to be at least the width of the rad.

How far off of the loop is this new rad? Better read the link posted earlier in the thread by Rob

Thanks for the input guys .

I went with a 007 circulator just to be on the safe side. My friend Dave was not cofidant about such a long run only relying on a monoflo ''t'' . :no1:

The other two new radiator feeds got piped in with only monoflo ''t'' s , but they are short runs.

Part of me wanted to try the double monoflow ''t'' s on that long loop, only because its so simple. But it's too much work to cut it all in and then have it perform poorly .

Dave

Dave, did you pipe that radiator as a separate zone? Or did you tie into the main pipe with tees and use the 007 in the branch piping?

Rob, yes I cut in two 1 1/4 x 3/4 ''t'' s into the main and put a 007 on that long branch.

It's very tight where they had to be cut in, but I was able to separate the ''t'' s by 3' .
