How far past the end of the feed tube should the auger extend?

Hand Fed Coal Furnace: Harman SF3500 reduced down to 3 grates connected to its own plenum
Coal Size/Type: Rice, Chestnut and whatever will fit through the door on the Harman
Other Heating: Noth'in but COAL! Well, Maybe a little tiny bit of wood

My dad's is a 1953. They last a long time if well cared for.

It is so critical to have the exact auger length extending beyond the pipe. I had an issue 2 years ago with a rusted bin pipe end. That's a perfect fire. My unit is a 1966.

Good luck with your new stoker mine is a 1953 like Rob said if you take care of them they last a long time
