I kind of figured that, but am amazed by the efficiency of the coal gun! I've been burning oil as of late, as current prices make it more economic for summer use. I'll fire up the EFM when it gets cold, and or when oil goes up.
For summer use, I average around 20 gallons per month. At 2.50 per gallon, compared to 600 lbs of coal, and I don't have outfires!

We do about 35 gallons per month just doing DHW...
3 kids@6 years, 2 adults...
Laundry about 14 loads per week...
10-12 minute showers...
Coal boiler is definitely in my future...
Can't imagine how much DHW we will use in 9 years...
