I don't know the thread size but the square head took a 1/4" wrench.

Hay Chris, long time, no see! Good to hear from you.europachris wrote: ↑Mon. Nov. 15, 2021 8:41 amYou might want to give this stuff a try, Don: https://www.mcmaster.com/v-belts/twist-lock-adjus ... belting-8/
It's not the cheapest stuff but it runs really smooth and obviously you can customize the length to whatever you want at any time.
Chris
So that's what that stuff is. I've been wondering what that is and where you get it for years now. I've seen it on old Lister Diesel engines for fan and water pump drive.
Thanks!

Well, its been a very sad week...
My main Coal Collaborator for the last 15 years, Kitty passed away early this week. She never met a coal boiler she didn't like and was always there to give a Wise Acre comment when I plumbed something wrong. She will be greatly missed.
We will push forward though. Other than playing with pulley and belt sizes last weekend, I haven't done anything to the Axeman. I am now pretty sure that the noise that this new drive system is making is worn pillow block bearings. We will replace them at some point. Over the past 7 days;
Fan reading, 1222.5 - 1184.4 = 38.1 hours of fan run time, 5.44 hours per day.
Ash reading, 689.7 - 667.3 = 22.4 hours of ashing, 3.20 hours per day. 7 days of ash filled the pan up pretty good. Current settings,
Fan RPM = 1568.0 RPM (Stock is 2875 RPM)
Ashing = 2.0 Teeth
Auger speed = 4.31 RPM (Stock is 8.05 RPM)
Grate cycles per hour = 10.35
Pounds per hour = ?? pounds per fan run time hour
Aquastat = 160*F (Inkbird), ON/OFF, Hysteresis = 5*
Anthrastat = 120*F (Inkbird), Hysteresis = 0.5*
Low flue temperature cut off = 160*F, Hysteresis = 0.1*

Sorry to hear about your Cat Don. The Cat was a well respected member of this forum and had more experience with Coal Boilers than many of us.

Don,
Sorry to hear about Kitty, some animals have a way of bonding that we never forget. My lab Lady would come and sit next to me when I would tend the fire so much as to say "thanks for the heat"...

We just recently adopted a new kitty.. he had a fractured arm with an infection. Took him to the vet, got antibiotics and caged him for a few weeks to let the arm heal. He's doing much better now. Time for a new boiler tech Don!

Sometime this week we increased the boiler temperature from a set point of 160 to 165.
Post by StokerDon - Boiler Pressure Creeping up!??? The AHS pillow block bearings have quieted down a little. I still think they have ware on them that is creating the noise. Other than that, this system is working perfectly. Over the past 7 days;
Fan reading, 1267.3 - 1222.5 = 44.8 hours of fan run time, 6.40 hours per day.
Ash reading, 713.6 - 689.7 = 23.9 hours of ashing, 3.41 hours per day. The ash looks perfectly normal. Current settings,
Fan RPM = 1568.0 RPM (Stock is 2875 RPM)
Ashing = 2.0 Teeth
Auger speed = 4.31 RPM (Stock is 8.05 RPM)
Grate cycles per hour = 10.35
Pounds per hour = Unknown
Aquastat = 165*F (Inkbird), ON/OFF, Hysteresis = 5*
Anthrastat = 120*F (Inkbird), Hysteresis = 0.5*
Low flue temperature cut off = 160*F, Hysteresis = 0.1*
