Boiler was restarted yesterday after filling up the ash area with new coal. Just checking on stove and it’s out again. Settings are L 160, H 190, air 4, feed 4. I did check the timer (S40 Honeywell) and its set at 2 minutes every half hour, but running for about 3.5 min. I have not verified that it’s running every half hour, but will today.

Any other suggestions? If it’s the timer what is the best option of a swap without having to rewrite.

+1 on checking the stove pipe. Mine has only had one out-fire in 2 years and it was because of excess fly ash in the exhaust outlet of the stove last August, right before it was time to clean it for heating season...

The stove was working fine all winter so I wasn’t suspecting the draft. I did adjust the the feed rate. It may of been on five. It’s now on 4. I’m going to double check the timer running correctly. I adjusted it down a bit to get it to 1.5 min every half hour, but need to check the accuracy.

Do I need to shut the stove down to check the stove pipe? I just started her up again....maybe you guys are correct.

Have you cleaned the pipe at all this season? You'll be amazed at how much ash can accumulate. With the warmer weather, a choked pipe just gives up.

If a thorough cleaning does not help, check the mouth of the auger for an obstruction.

Boiler is back up and running, but temp is already at 190 degrees. It appears to be a bit high. Is it possible stove temp is getting too high in this warm weather? It was 90 degrees today on Long Island.

If the boiler is well insulated and you are not using much DHW, it will run 180-190 degrees. You may need to increase the high limit setting to 200.

Increased high limit to 200. I’m hoping this was the issue.
