No big deal. Valve it off and enjoy the summer. In the fall add some boiler treatment, fill it with water, and fire it back up.
To drain, or not to drain...

Really?
We're using tiny residential boilers in a small hot water system...50-60 gallons, some even less.
That Link was for Jumbo Steam Boilers by a company that profits from services rendered. What did I miss?

Not a worry...there are plenty boiler owners here with 40-50 and even 60 year old boilers doing very well.

I don't drain mine. When I bought it, it had been sitting idle for 27 years. I drained it to uninstall it and the water came out crystal clear. If you worry about it, add a conditioner. If not, find something else to worry about. The chance of it springing a leak in your lifetime is about the same as winning Powerball.

Does domestic coil gasket count? If so, I'm buying a ticket Monday.coaledsweat wrote: ↑Sat. May. 05, 2018 9:05 pmI don't drain mine. When I bought it, it had been sitting idle for 27 years. The coil itself was filled with a black, stinky fluid that used to be water. I have no idea what it was but it stained his concrete floor pretty good!

So this is the first time shutting my boiler off for the summer.
Don't drain it?
Should I bypass the domestic coil?

This is important, because if cold water is circulating thru the coil every time you use DHW the whole boiler will eventually get very cold. It'll sweat inside the burn chamber as well as anywhere else that's exposed. Sulphur compounds left over from combustion will mix with the sweat (H2O) and produce sulphuric acid.... (Insert sarcasm here) and if you listen closely, you'll hear it chewing up your boiler lol.
