Recently the motor on my 30 minute repeat timer (Intermatic model C8835) died after 4 years of use. It took quite some time finding a replacement, which I finally ordered from California. A very concerning question crossed my mind since this happened: What if the timer motor died while it was in the "ON" position of the dial? I hypothesize that the switch for the burner would never turn off until I discovered it! I'm guessing that if it was not discovered soon enough, the water would reach quite high temperature and blow out of the pressure relief valve, over and over again. And how high the temperature would get, I don't know. This scenario has me worried.
Anyone have some input? Thanks.

If your controls are wired as per the EFM wiring diagram, the aquastat will prevent the boiler from overheating. Some of us run a separate high limit aquastat for insurance, but it is not mandatory.

I am very surprised that you had to buy a new motor from California-if that is all you bought of course;
I was able to purchase a replacement timer motor locally for less than $28.00 locally.

The part number for the clock motor is WG780-12D. If not available locally, you can find it on Amazon.

Just a FYI...
High temperature water is not the 'trigger' for popping off the PRV on a boiler...it is only 'triggered' by pressure reaching 30 psi.
Depending on the reserve capacity of ones system's expansion tank will play the biggest role in reaching the 30 psi threashold.
And one other varable is the choosen static system operating pressure setting, as that will determine the temp at which the water would boil to flash to steam. And producing steam increases system's volume and pressures some as well.

Does any one know the part number for the Honeywell timers?
