Nothing exciting to report yet.. I had previously obligated myself to go with my buddy out to Phil May's for a ton of rice coal which shoulda only taken a couple hours. Well, after the coal run of course we had to go in Mickey's for just "one".. Yep, blew up my whole day... but I did get the stove pipe installed :)

How is the work on the rest of the system going? Radiators, heat exchangers, etc?

"..... and we have lift off!!!"

All is well so far. I got some dry coal ash from my neighbor. Put in paper and cardboard, cowboy lump on top, let simmer, first layer of pea coal is igniting.

Oh!! I'll see if I can find something to use :)

I have the belt off the auger and just spilling in 8-10 pounds at a time thru the transfer head. I dont want any unpleasant surprises lol

Yes, never ever let the auger run until the fire is built up near to not being able to taking much coal off the auger...that's one recipe for a puffback!!! It is more so an issue that way when maybe the fire is a bit pokey, which it is not pokey now, but why risk it...

Yeah man! The aquastat just cut the combustion blower off at 170.. I'm currently running hot water to bring the temp down so I can continue building up the fire.

Just turned back on at 160..

Bypass that way heats up your large pipe and headers nicely. Also driving a bit of system O2 away :)

A old tire iron or lug wrench may do for a "dipstick" when things calm down for ya.

Ok great :)

I just shut off the hot water spigot. It dragged her down nicely, to 135..

This is good to know..

Your low and high should be 20° apart or it interferes with the fixed differential setting.

Fixed? This aquastat has a variable adjustment. I set it for 10 degrees.

OK, it's adjustable. How is it going to work at 10° when your low and high are 10° apart?
