I bought an EFM 520 off of craigslist last week that I have intentions of refurbishing and replacing the Keystoker K6 I currently have. I just don't like filling the hopper as it creates a lot of dust with certain coal. I got the boiler for 1000 dollars, it does need some work on the base but it i fixable. I have plans of running the auger straight into my bin with a doghouse configuration. I will need to pick up an intermediate auger to do this. What are some sources for used augers? I am located between State College and Altoona.

How far are you from Shenandoah, PA and Marks Supply?
You could probably buy a long auger and tube from them for your installation.
About your dust issues, I was surprised to see that some folks are using oiled coal for their keystoker boilers
when they recommend that only untreated coal be used.

That's about 100 miles for me. I'll do that if need be, I was just hoping to find a closer source.

I think their HQ was moved to Schuylkill Haven. There are a few dealers who handle used equipment, and might be willing to sell/ship to you the bin auger, auger coupling, pipe and pipe coupling you need. I don't think those are cheap if bought from EFM. Forum members Scrapper and Glenn Harris are possibilities, as are Jack Ryan Plumbing/Heating (Mahanoy City) and Advanced Energy Systems (Warrensburg, NY). Some folks economize by using alternative materials (conduit, PVC) for the bin pipe and/or coupling, as discussed in threads on the forum.

Izaharis,
Any idea why oiled coal shouldn't be used for a keystoker? I've been using it in a Keystoker 90 for the last 10 years and haven't noticed any problems except for a feed screw that keeps loosening itself and reducing the feed rate over a few days. Thanks for any info.
