I have a K6 that i refurbed now, it works great and makes good heat. I don't like having to fill the hopper because it creates A LOT of dust depending on the coal. I just picked up an EFM 520 for 1000 dollars last week, it needs a bit of work but I'll refurb it and heat with it next winter.

I talked to the guy with the AA 260.

It needs -
New aquastat
Fan mount needs welding work due to a misaligned gasket
The end of the auger needs new pipe.

His profession is in the field doing boiler work, so he seemed quite knowledgeable.

I contacted the guy with the KB 8 this morning. With further thought I realize that unit is just too big for my application. On my coldest days I only need less than 50,000 BTUs per hour. Overkill is good but that was way over overkill lol.

Besides, something else turned up. Details to follow if it turns out.
