I don't know what model it is but it's 4 inches smaller than a GJ5. That's the smallest I have paperwork for. It has a 14.5 inch retort.

This one was the last boiler that the former member Whistlenut acquired. It had a beautiful set of red covers that were lost on the journey to me.

AA130 heating 1280 sq.ft. house, 1200 sq.ft. garage to 60°F, 50 gallon indirect for at least 4 people daily, and soon to be an outside hot tub. Never breaks a sweat even at -20°F and wind. Love this thing!

I go through about 5 - 5 1/2 ton per year (not heating DHW). Last year I went through more like 4 ton, or maybe a little more, due to the mild winter. That's the least I've ever gone through in the 18 years I've been in this house.
Before the Kaa-2 boiler, I'd go through 5-1/2 - 6 ton with the HITZER 50-93 in basement.
Might I add; We don't skimp on heat. Wife likes it at 73*. May I also add; Since I discovered the water wall baffles need to be cleaned of fly ash on top, in-between, and all around, the little Kaa-2 heats my 3400 square feet with ease. I'll bet I could add another 1,000 square feet of house if I wanted.

Also ck your flue pipe ,i have to clean mine once or twice of fly ash every season. This year was the test for the K-2 ,with so many suggesting its too small it came through with flying colors. My leaky old 3000SF barn stayed 77- 80 without skipping a beat.Even the coldest days saw some idle time. I usually use 3 ton the last couple years. I like that it small, light and easily movable, when i move ill roll it right out the door with me.oliver power wrote: ↑Thu. You are also in a much warmer climate k-2.. almost 1800 HDDs difference between us, location plays a big role in size factoring and usage. Most people saying that yours was undersized was probably comparing it to there own setup which is not fair.

Correct ,and the annual coal usage is a factor too. If you need to chew through 9 or 10 ton of coal a year(heating season) its not going to happen with this boiler. You couldnt push that much coal through this stove even running 24/7. If my place were properly insulated i could be burning even less. I know a guy with a newer style ranch house who claims 1.5 ton a year with a K-2 . Probably doesnt keep it at 77-80 though like i do and a lot less Sqf.

Yes absolutely! I keep this place between 72 and 76, mostly on the higher end, it’s brand new, but has a lot of leaks and insulation issues that the manufacturer hasn’t addressed yet, I’m sure my usage will drop after the repairs. I’m at about 3 ton so far, it was 0 this morning.

You guys were consistently 10 degrees or more colder than we were here in central pa. That makes a difference. Right now its 21 here with a high of 32 today and my stoker is idling a good bit of the time. My tiny ash pan took 3 days to fill this week. on those colder days it took 1. Warming up again to 50+ Saturday. Im at about 1.5 ton burned so far this yr.

1966 EFM 700 Heating 2200 sq ft. It's oversized but it gets the job done. Just built a new base out of stainless last year. It's holding up great. B
I'm burning buckwheat at the moment. Haven't found the perfect mix yet but I'm close. Planning on insulating the boiler and adding a heater to the basement to keep it warm. I've got pictures on the rebuild I did last year posted under EFM 700 Rebuild.
