Among the Axeman Anderson Anthratube and AHS Coal Gun users on this forum, am I the only one running my boiler year round?

I'm thinking about it. May plumb the hot water to it and take a shot at it this year.

My primary motivation in asking this question is to discover if any anthracite coal other than Blaschak pea essentially 100% reliably sustains the fire during the warmest of the summer months.
I could not sustain a fire during the summer (or even on very warm days during the winter) when burning 100% Stockton. UAE Harmony worked well, but no longer exists. Blaschak works so well that my fire didn't go out during a full week last summer when we were not home and no DHW was in use. Are there any others that may fit this bill?

The way I got through my Stockton coal (for two different attempts spanning a few years, so assuredly with different coal) was to mix it 1 part Stockton to 2 parts Blaschak, and then only use this blend during the winter.

I seem to recall that Lehigh offers blends and also straight Mammoth vein. Stockton is straight Mammoth vein. When you purchased your Lehigh did you request pure Mammoth (which I believe is an option, pending someone correcting me on this)?hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Mon. Why change if the BLASCHAK worked so well?

I only requested that it came straight off the belt into the trailer, so that it didn’t go into any piles.
It burns EXTREMELY well, very low ash, I’m at about 11-12%, and idles awesome! My father in law burns it in two hopper fed stoves, and brother in law also in a hopper fed stove, and they can go 36 hours between tends when mild, up into the 50-60’s outside, I’ve ran my boiler with day time temps in the 50-60’s this fall and did not have any issue, I think my biggest thing will be consumption vs cost of electric dhw, although a hot boiler 24/7 is worth $ also to limit corrosion.

I also understand that the nature of anthracite coal veins changes as one progresses from eastern to central to western. Does anyone on the forum know what characteristics and specification changes occur depending upon the location within the vein?

Off the top of my head I believe (but take this with a grain of salt, as I'm merely an Ohioan) that Hazleton, Jeddo, Stockton, and Lehigh all mine the Mammoth (among perhaps others). Which of these are mining the eastern, central, and/or western zones?

Larry, Have you tried Red Ash Coals?
*robr's* suggestion of Kimmels year round would be one.
And for any coal supplier you would require delivery, correct? So this could be a limiting factor for what you may have access to receive.
