With mild temps I decided to shut down my boiler for some maintenance. I was surprised how many finds I vacuumed out when I took out the blower. Flue pipes are vacuumed.
She is up and running and humming along!
Today was Cleaning Day!!

Same here temps were in the hi 40's here in N. Central PA.
I cleaned the stack, brushed the inside and in between the plates. I only got about a half tub of soot. It took about an hour. Things are up and running well. Oiled the areas and even put a fresh sheer pin in.
Polished up the blue metal jacket and it looks like a new boiler!
Hard to believe it was made in 1966.

I have same vintage boiler. After how many tons do you recommend this cleaning? My first year with it. Works great but always looking to learn.

I clean it once a year. I burn it all year and seem to burn 5 to 6 ton of rice.
Be sure to pull the fines lever every few days and oil the 3 areas on the connecting rod. Its simple to clean and maintain.
