The discharge pipe is also about 6” on the 260.
The fan motor is still running strong, from 1984 so idk, lol it is in the back of my mind though to purchase the indirect model.

The motor winding integrity is one thing and the front motor bearing is another. Did the people who sold you the boiler ever mention that they had to periodically change the front motor bearing? I discussed this issue with an AHS sales rep before purchasing my boiler, and his response was that although there have been improvements made to the direct drive motors heat resistance over the years, the recurrent failure of the front bearing due to its proximity to the heat is still an ongoing problem, and this is why they have never been able to do away with the belt drive option. The direct drive motor is likely less noisy though.hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Tue. Mar. 20, 2018 2:12 pmThe discharge pipe is also about 6” on the 260.

Idk if it has ever been serviced, I don’t think it has, I also don’t think this boiler has had much coal ran through it.
When I brought it home, the fan was seized, I attempted to take the blade off and it became unsiezed, I plugged it in, and it’s worked ever since.
I do notice, when the boiler is idle is when the fan motor is the hottest, when it’s running it is cool, due to the inner fan blades keeping the motor cool.

How hot does it get? You could mount a small cooling fan somewhere close to it.hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Tue. Mar. 20, 2018 2:29 pmdo notice, when the boiler is idle is when the fan motor is the hottest, when it’s running it is cool, due to the inner fan blades keeping the motor cool.

4 hours and 48 minutes of fan run time over the passed day. That should come up to about 52.8 pounds. If you take into account 19.2 hours of idle at .3 pounds per hour, 5.76, it makes about 58.56 pounds total for this 24 hour period.
I would say that is very good. High about 40 today with rain, snow, sleet and wind. Interesting that it is only 7-ish pounds more per day than yesterday when it was 60 and sunny.
Sorry, no shamelessly noisy video tonight.

Wouldn’t it be 48 pounds?
4 hours at 10 lbs per hour, plus 48 minutes at .16 lbs per minute?

The sunny warm day could have been a little deceiving. According to weather underground yesterday's mean OAT for York PA was 37 degrees while today's mean OAT is 32 so far. So your coal usage seems to fall in line with those temps, I think.

Also, are you taking measurements at about the same time everyday? A difference of only one hour means one day was 25 hours, the other only 23.

The 130M is 11.5 pounds per hour for Pea coal. I just rounded it down to 11 with the Rice coal mixed in and added Larry's .3 pound per hour of idle. I don't know for sure that it is correct, but it seems pretty reasonable.hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Tue. Mar. 20, 2018 6:19 pm4 hours at 10 lbs per hour, plus 48 minutes at .16 lbs per minute?

If your going to add the .3 for the idle time, don’t you have to take it out of the fan time?

The fan run time is 11 pounds per hour (4.8) and idle time is .3 pounds per hour (19.2) just like it says above.

5 hours even of fan run time over the passed day. That should come up to about 55.0 pounds. If you take into account 19.0 hours of idle at .3 pounds per hour, 5.7, it makes about 60.7 pounds total for this 24 hour period.
60 pounds is not bad for a cold, snowy day. 3 days worth of ash. -Don
