I have had my share of fool contractors and plumbers.

It sounds like the pole barn is the best way to go with a coal stoker boiler and a coal bin for this.
You could install a couple of large surplus hot water radiators in the basement to keep it warmer and somewhat drier to reduce the chance of mold building up in the basement and the floors would be warmer as well.

i got more work to do.
i was down in the crawl space hooking up the 6/2 cable for my air compressor out in the shed and i have ice and water in the crawl space. in 2004 dad and i buried the cable underground, we just never ran the wire from the crawl space to the basement panel in the front of the house. be nice to have my air compressor running again, have not had it hooked up since i moved home almost 2 yrs ago after dad passed away.

i forgot that the back fill around the crawl space wall never got finished....just some huge hunks of concrete there.

going to dig out one corner and put a sump pump in, fill the rest with drainage stone. not

sliced my finger good with the utility knife....blood sacrifice for the day.

Use lots of peroxide until the wound scab is totally gone.

Sliced fingers are never good; I keep forgetting to leave my thumbnails long on both hands because of knife cuts from 30 plus years ago.

Took a ride to schuylkill county yesterday and went to see Steve.
I went to pick his brain about coal boilers.
i saw his leisure line wl110 and it looks like it's a pain to maintain.
tempted to get a ds stoker boiler from him....price is the lowest for a new underfed stoker boiler i have seen.
he's got some 520's all ready to go, one has an oil gun.

he is going to give me a price for a used 520 with a tested pressure vessel and the rest used parts, timers and all. i am going to do my own cleaning and painting. i restored the efm af-150 in 2006 so i can do it again.......my friends are still heating the building with that furnace.
