I am still struggling to figure how this hot water heating system with a jammed gear box issue turned into a recommendation to get a steam plumber to fix what the painters may have messed up.
Thinking further into this.... I have concluded that the painters of bygone yrs. left there paint brushes inside the gear box (because they were using oil based paint) & after getting all the radiators reset & reconnected, they forgot their paint brushes.... which in time, overheated the gears & jammed them..... thus the need for a steam plumber when the jammed gear box caused a heat needed with none available, emergency.

Paint Cans will need another warning listed on labels so painters do not continue to have this disregard for restrictor plates when yanking out radiators to paint wall behind them. And while they're at it to stop painting over the screw heads on receptacles and switches cause it makes it hard to get out the screws sometime later.
