Keep us posted if . 032 is thick enough. Id like to try this but i dont want the tub to bend or distort too easily. I think the SS i got is 22 Gauge.oliver power wrote: ↑Thu. Dec. 14, 2017 9:27 pm. New ones are made of .032 aluminum, and will never rot out.

Here it is; 24 hours later, and not melted, warped, or flimsy. No signs of heat at all. Looks like I never used it. Lots of extra capacity. Very Happy with the way they turned out.

Congrats on the effort, isn't it great when the plan works? Nice craftsmanship as well.

I think ill try to do one from aluminum. Then i can compare to the SS. Since i already have the SS. 4x4 sheet was $55 .Aluminum is probably half that. I measured it out at 13.5 x 19 including handles ,so ill go 13 x 18 to allow for some spillage along the sides. And 8.5 In. high.

Not sure how much you're heating, or your tending schedule; But, once a day doesn't sound too out of line. I tend my Kaa-2 every 24 hours. If running hard, my ash box is full. I will say; These new ash boxes are much much better. I go two days (48 hours) in these milder temps. Could NEVER do that with original ash boxes.

Im heating 3000SF 100Yr old 3 story including a heated finished 1st floor, been using Behrens Round galvanized Tub from amazon,They were $9.99 Free shipping so i got 3 . They dont hold as much as the original square tub from Keystoker ($30) but are much cheaper. The keystoker tub last between 2 and 3 yrs and the round tubs only about half that. Once i lined the square tub with aluminum and it lasted so much longer. I go thru tubs often cuz i wet the ashes down as soon as i get em out of the stove to keep the dust down. Im planning on making one SS square tub and one aluminum tub 13 by 19 by 8.5 high.oliver power wrote: ↑Mon.
