Have any of you had corrosion with the joints on copper. My house has been complete for 20 years now and some of the joints have started to leak and have white oxidation on them. They are extremly difficult to repair. They almost refuse to take sodder even taking apart cleaned thorough and fluxed. I am gonna try brazing on them.

Typically that is from the acid flux not being cleaned off the joint after it is soldered.

I always wipe mine down with wet rag after soldering while still warm, and many times use IPA to remove any additional flux residue.

My question is why would it take 20 years to do this and start leaking. Do they make shark bite in 1 1/4"

Phil, is this on domestic water, or your heating system?

Heat I have been soldering for over 30 years never had issues like this. I would like to find some lead solder in stead of this 95-5 *censored*.

95/5 is tough to work with, and if you try the white flux they sell at the box stores you will be violent.

I bought a few rolls of 50/50 on ebay for my boiler work.

Your local plumbing supply should have 50/50 solder.

Even "lead free" solder has lead in it. Not much, but it's in there.
