So I got my new Wi-Fi Thermostat installed (Honeywell's RTH8580WF Wi-Fi Thermostat) and I'm liking that I can see the temperature in the house when I'm not home. That and my Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detector keeps me informed that my house is safe and warm. If I could find my old cell phone I would have a home camera but I can't remember what I did with it.

I would recommend using an IP cam for simplicity, here's the one I currently use.

Here's a thread on using an old cell phone. It was cumbersome and unreliable, but maybe there is a better way than how I was doing it

I just switched from a new-fangled electronic thermostat to the old-fashion analog dial one.
Some like to do things on their phone. I just make telephone calls from it (oh noes!)
