I'm looking for input on a 700 . I have a 520 stoker that is very reliable all year around . How reliable are the rotating pots under light loads only , say in spring and summer when you only need DHW ?
Next thing is what about the gearbox to rotate the pot? Is this a big PITA or once rebuilt are they good for many years ?
My gut concern is mostly about draft excaping from under the pot at the gooseneck instead of going trough the coal bed. I hate ''out-fires''.
Thanks Dave !

I've used 700, 900 and larger rotating pot stokers, and don't recall any particular issues under light loads, including summer DHW. Likewise, I don't think those gearboxes cause frequent problems. Like anything mechanical, they may wear out eventually (as may the teeth on the pot that are engaged by the gearbox), but generally they are very durable.
