after this summer the eshland will be my only source of heat so I want a spare of everything.
One of the nice things about having a HI Limit aquastat on the boiler is if your main aquastat fails you can run on the HI Limit aquastat to maintain boiler control until you replace the main one. You just have to jumper the main aquastat ON. Then the HI Limit aquastat becomes your main.

Fear of so called “cheap controls”…okay.
No matter how bulletproof it still needs to be sized properly for the current load.
But what it really comes down to is, “What’s the Worst thing that can happen if it fails.”
We have all the safeties already built in you know.
Don’t be skered!!! 😄

Finally got around to putting some new bearings on the direct drive fan motor, it’s been noisy for a couple years now.. ordered a new piece of insulation for the fan and will more than likely reassemble this weekend.

With the new mini split heat pump installed I’m hoping to not light it till November.

Thanks for the picture. I wondered how easy it would be to replace the bearing in the direct drive motor. I have one that I would like to try on my Axeman someday.

Only problem I had was the Allen drive was gone on the screws, so I used a grinder with cut off wheel and put a cut in the head then used a impact screwdriver to get them out, obviously replacing them with new ones.

We’ll I’m gonna have to email them… I put it all back together and I can’t get my fan on enough to use the set screw… it’s like the insulation is too thick.

They sent me the wrong insulation, they assumed I had a indirect drive, I have a direct drive fan assembly, which requires thinner insulation, they sent me the correct one free of charge, lit up and everything is running good.

I’m getting sick of going out there every other day and turning the auger timer on lol so last night I plugged the auger motor into the same circuit as the ashing motor, hopper was full this morning so that won’t work, the auger is chain driven, so I might look into different size gears, it would be nice if I could get it right, then I would only have to dump my ash.

Another season done, switching over to the air source heat pumps to finish out, burned around 2 ton this season, lit Nov 25th. Nothing new to report, fan motor is a little noisy since i switched out those bearings, sounds like something is rubbing, i took it apart once and did not notice anything, i will take it apart again soon and see if i can find anything.
