Another heating season done, only burnt 8,200 pounds this year, this summer I will rip out the oil forced hot air system and instal l baseboard throughout the house, also need to fix my hopper, there are some holes in the bottom from wear, and need to purchase another fan motor assembly from AHS as the boiler will be the only supply of heat from here on it so I want a spare on hand, and maybe a spare aquastat. Only really need to get the backup electric heating element setup squared away.

What model aquastat do you need?

I would have to look and see what’s on it, it’s the original one, but I also know it does more than I need, I just need one that controls the fan, just a spare.

A PID with relay?
That's what I'm using...

An L6006a has both high and low limit functions, plus an adjustable differential. It could be a spare for the fan control and a dump zone...

I am in the "analog" camp when it comes to controls, but I think moving the motor load to a relay is a good idea.

Yes sir, that is a good all-around aquastat to have in stock.

I totally understand.. It'll take me a while to build trust with these cheap foreign controls. Fortunately, so far so good :)

I use a PID with relay for the ash motor, and I’ve wanted to switch the aquastat over, but am to worried about the cheap Chinese lol but I haven’t had a problem with the ashing one since install back in 2017, guess that should be good enough lol plus then I could have spares for both fan and ash motors… I should be able to use the relay (SSR?) that I have with my ash motor that way there both the same.

I would research the SSR a bit more and make sure it is rated for the load of your fan motor.

On the Axemans there is a separate HI Limit Honeywell aquastat that we leave in place just in case the digital boiler control does something stupid. I suspect your Eshland has the same feature. Make sure you keep it wired in.

With the Inkbird digital controllers that some of us are using, they come with an SSR. These SSR's are either 25 amp or 40 amp and will easily handle your fan motor. Personally, I haven't built up enough trust in the SSR's to use them. I use a standard industrial, electro-mechanical relay.

I don’t have the hi hi hi hi limit safety wired in lol my ashing inkbird came with a 40 amp, I didn’t think I could trust it either, but My ash one has worked perfect since 2017, and the current aquastat I assume is original from 1984 so lol I’m a fan of don’t broke don’t fix but I want a spare for just in case, so just didn’t know which spare to get, a new aquastat or another inkbird.. after this summer the eshland will be my only source of heat so I want a spare of everything.
