It hasn’t really done anything yet, but I can tell I’m gonna love it! Lol

Next is gonna be the ash auger, maybe next summer!

I have to switch the hour meter over to The auger soon too, and try to gauge my usage off that.

The auger is moving about 6 pounds of coal per minute.

The last 8 days I have burned 216 pounds, 27 pounds per day.

My ash was like stoker dons at first, a lot of black, and even some untouched coal, started with a well established fire too, but now that it’s running more throughout the day, the ash is getting better.

Good to hear. What do you have your ashing temperature set at?

October, auger ran a total of 3.2 hours.

Total of 192 minutes X 6lbs/min= 1152lbs.

37 pounds per day.

Haven’t had to touch any coal obviously.

Dumping my ash every 3-4 days just to avoid a FULL ash pan.

Still seem to have some coal in my ash even after a really good light up with a high demand. Left the ash motor unplugged for 12 hours the other day while I washed my pick up with hot water and did a bunch of other things requiring a high demand. Ash got better, I just lowered my ash temp from 110 down to 105, we’ll see what that brings..

I also ordered a water meter to install in my dhw line off my electric tank after my mixing valve, to gauge how much hot water we use so I can pin point how much coal is going towards dhw, and heat.

Stay tuned.

It’s installed, started with 32 gallons on the meter.

Water meter is a great idea. Curious to see your results.

Are you noticing a hot water pressure drop as a consequence of putting in the meter?

No difference in pressure.. there was a screen in the inlet, I took that out lol

That screen is there for a reason. Even a piece of sand can jam the turbine wheel in the meter.

Ahh ya sure, the holes are like 1/16” lol pretty sure my mixing valve would get jammed up first.. the screen in it was a joke.

Currently snowing here, 3-6” tonight with 30 MPH winds..

Due to a discussion in another thread with Larry, I dropped my grundfos 15-58 down to speed 1 from speed 2.

This one circulator is out in the boiler building, it runs constant through my water to water plate exchanger that feeds my hot side of my electric hot water tank. It then circulates through my water to air exchanger in my oil furnace when the house tstat calls for heat using a zone valve, and also circulates through my 3 cast iron radiators downstairs also using a zone valve.

That is my ash after two days, still think I have too much coal in it..

Right now with a shower goin, I have a 25 degree delta T. That’s heating well water from 55 to 125 degrees.

Upstairs heat is currently on also, that is also a 30 degree delta T.

H.B.

That ash looks about the same as my ash. Now that it is actually cold out I hope it improves. These things should be putting out fluffy clinkers and powdery ash!
