DHW Off the Stoker

If heating DHW from a stoker that is located on the first floor, and the storage tank is in the basement, does the pressure relief valve absolutely need to be next to the stoker ? Looking at some diagrams, it shows that it is. I wouldnt want it going off destroying the hardwood floors upstairs if there was any excess pressure. Thoughts ? Ideas ? Thank you.

Yes the PRV must be at the high point in the plumbing.. But the PRV 's exhaust can be plumbed down through the floor, to dump on the basement floor.. just another hole to drill..

And nothing wrong with having two relief valves, one at high point, one on tank.

I piped both of my prv to a drain using copper for the first 10 feet and then cpvc for the rest.

My DHW is currently off the oil burner. Im thinking of purchasing a new electric hot water heater, and using electric during the summer, and the coal stoker to that tank for the winter. At 4.00 a gallon for oil, and 150 gallons to heat my hot water for the summer months, $ 600.00 for hot water is crazy.

The boiler must have a PRV on it, you could plumb the drain to the basement or possibly outside. I would advise a shield if you do so. If the DHW is off a tankless coil they both must have their own PRV at different ratings more than likely.
