Permanent magnets are most commonly used in DC motors. But ECM motors are more special than just permanent magnets.

More like VFD's, so I've read. I looked into VFD for the water jet pump some time ago. Interesting.
I wonder how much concern or trouble the collection of metals are due to the permanent magnet? All the info I found was geared towards, "I think this might be a problem with the new design" vs real world experience over the past few years. Maybe because they avoided these models? I don't know.
007-F5 isn't bad at all. But as I change a few things, I may run the main loop more often or even continuously to make the integration of the oil boiler easier. Haven't decided yet.
I like the idea of self clearing of locked rotor. We've had one Dead out of box, and now 2 fail over the years. I can deal with spares if needed, but better tech to avoid it might be smart- only if it doesn't cause other troubles.
Data and opinions both welcome

ECM motor with permanent magnets is not affected by metal particles in flow stream.

Any updates on the Taco 007e ECM pumps? Yay or Nay?
Looking to buy extra pump for emergencies, possibly switch in a high efficiency one and keep the older one as the spare

I installed one on the S130 project last year, it has been working great. I have been running Grundfos Alpha circulators at home for a few years now with good results. Since I repiped the system with zone valves I have an extra Alpha circulator sitting on the bench. I recently popped the cartridge off to make sure the impeller spins freely, and it does. If you want to try it send me a PM.CoalisCoolxWarm wrote: ↑Thu. Nov. 30, 2023 2:03 pmAny updates on the Taco 007e ECM pumps? Yay or Nay?

I installed 2 of the taco 007e in 2020. Went to buy a new one for a backup and was shocked to see the price went up so much. I won mine on ebay auctions and got them for under 50 dollars each shipped. Lowest I see now is $155 shipped for open box and $220+ for new. My other two circulators are Wilo and they were around 50 each also.

Good morning fellow COALPAIL board members,
Please keep in mind that the new permanent electromagnet hot water circulators may affect your
pacemaker or pacemaker defibrulator if you are thinking about employing them in your home or
business.

Leon, I'm thinking not a good idea to lean against the magnetic drives But seriously, good thing to point out. We are really spring chickens 'round here.
