I know I might have missed a few things that you have done so far so sorry if this was already covered. Do you have a strap on aquastat on the return pipe of you coil to control the fan? Doing this would only let the fan run when the coil water temperate is about set point. It would also help with some of your delta T issues and shock to the boiler.
Ziggy, I have a strap on the supply side that if it gets below 160* it automatically turns on the LP burner in the furnace to help the boiler recover quickly while still providing for the heat call. Really worked well last season, although I would rather not burn LP it only happens on the coldest/windy times.

swyman, were you able to slow your furnace blower down to 1,000 CFM?

62* and 20% chance of rain...per weather channel.....Hey boss I need a personal day for tomorrow so I can build my coal bin...."it's yours" he says... Started at 7am and so did the rain at 9am! With all the technology today you would think the weather people would be more accurate??? I managed to cut all the wood outside (in the rain) without getting poked by 120V! Final inside measurements are 87"x73"x72". I didn't add in but after 4' high it goes to 85" wide instead of 73". Should last most of season! Now just have to fill it.

Going to be really nice to have it all down there. How many ton did your math come out to? I would plan on a hose bib nearby so that you can keep it damp and not dusty.

Should be right around 280 cubic feet so I think that would put me at 7 ton. Would like more but not going to complain, the boys and I humped 8 ton into the basement in 5 gallon buckets last season! Really wasn't horrible as we did it as needed. I ran with 2 100 gallon Rubbermaid livestock waterers. Between the two they held about a ton.

For the first coal loading/transfer into the basement bin, will there be any dust control measures needed?

I have had the super sacks sitting outside and we just had an inch of rain last weekend so I am hoping that they will have a lot of moisture in them so there won't be any dust? If I do I was going to staple visqueen from bin wall to ceiling or should I just do it before I even start?

I need to start the furnace this weekend so I will adjust the fan speed before doing so. Decided on building a wood chute on a 45 degree angle, flat bottom and metal flashing skinned so it will slide easily (hopefully)! I better put the visqueen also just in case it is dusty while dumping into basement. Also want to grab an 8'x8' tarp to lay on the floor inside the bin so it doesn't stain my floor. Also, I have a long 6" duct run under the kitchen that has a crawl space that was never insulated. I think I will really notice a difference in register temp, the run is 24'?

Fired up the furnace after a rainy/windy 39 degree night to come home cold and wet to a 62 degree house. Set tstat to 68 and I could definitely tell the difference in sound of the blower that it was running slower. Now I am really excited to get that stoker fired up! Need that coal in the basement but one question......it rained again last night and my super sacks are sitting outside, do you think I will get much dust when dumping it in the basement?

You won’t have any dust if the sacks have been open on top.

Last night I took apart the feeders and replaced the bad gearmotor and removed the carpets and gave everything a thorough cleaning. After installing the new part I noticed that Leisure Line must have put a dab of grease around the output shaft to probably keep out fines? The shaft is located on top so any fines would sit there....I think I recall someone in this thread telling me to put a washer on the shaft before installing the slide plate arm? Should I remove the new gearmotor and put a dab of grease around the shaft and/or washer? I also noticed the other gearmotor making a noise like a bearing going out. Any other suggestions?
