Thanks Lee!
Today I got my 5+ ton of Rice coal! Finally! It's never been this late before. Usually have it between August and September. It turns out that I didn't have to make that cutout in the back. The shoot would have fit better if I left it at full height. Oh well, I'll patch it up before the next delivery. This should last until Spring. -Don

Meter reading today was, 3499.5 - 3483.6 = 15.9 hours over the passed 7 days, 2.27 hours per day, times 12.25 pound per hour = 27.83 pounds per day. Its been a little chilly here this week so I have the dining room and hallway radiators opened up to push a little heat onto the house.
The gofer hole is back already!

Meter reading today was, 3514.9 - 3499.5 = 15.4 hours over the passed 7 days, 2.20 hours per day, times 12.25 pound per hour = 26.95 pounds per day.
Noth'in go'in on here, it's all pretty boring really. The Van Wert just keeps sip'in coal out of the bin and I swap out the ashpan about once a week.

Meter reading today was, 3534.2 - 3514.9 = 19.3 hours over the passed 7 days, 2.76 hours per day, times 12.25 pound per hour = 33.78 pounds per day. That's a bit higher than where we were.
Just cracking this valve open allows enough gravity flow to raise the radiator and the GJ in the garage up to 110 degrees. That was about the only coal project I could think of doing that could be accomplished with one arm.

The gofer has been hard at work!
One of the reasons we are using more coal this week is we are pushing a little heat to the garage. With all the valves and connections in my system I finally figured out a way to push heat from the basement boiler through the garage boiler.Just cracking this valve open allows enough gravity flow to raise the radiator and the GJ in the garage up to 110 degrees. That was about the only coal project I could think of doing that could be accomplished with one arm.

Meter reading today was, 3561.0 - 3534.2 = 26.8 hours over the passed 7 days, 3.83 hours per day, times 12.25 pound per hour = 46.9 pounds per day. That's a lot, it's been colder than normal this week. Friday through Saturday morning was down into the low 20's and very, very windy. We used 93.1 pounds between Friday morning and Saturday morning. Very Wintery weather!

That gofer!
Still pushing heat out to the garage, a bit too much actually. I need to figure out how to dial it back a bit. The garage has been 60* to 65*, 55* would be plenty.-Don

Meter reading today was, 3587.3 - 3561.0 = 26.3 hours over the passed 7 days, 3.76 hours per day, times 12.25 pound per hour = 46.3 pounds per day.
I managed to dial the garage heat back to about 60 degrees consistently by throttling the valve a bit more.

Here's what happened at my house because of those cold days. The +80 was a second tending for that day. But it's not like I burned 120 pounds in one day lol, some of that 80 extra works into the next day. So if you average the two days you get about 77.5 pounds for each day.

Just topped off. Added 722 lbs. so far this month, with about 50-60 lbs. of that for DHW.
485 HDD's for November through today.
Best guess is 1.38 home heating lbs. per HDD. Overall this is pretty much my mainstream long term norm.

Yes! Looks like I'm on target to burn 1,165# for the month.
I've averaged 1,016# over the past three Novembers.
November 2014 = 1,245 lbs., 1.33 lbs. per HDD
November 2015 = 878 lbs., 1.43 lbs. per HDD
November 2016 = 926 lbs., 1.34 lbs. per HDD
How much have you burned?

I filled my hopper last Friday, so that will last till this Friday, at 840 pounds so far this month, and we’ve had some very cold days and nights.

You are doing great! Your area has about 1,030 more annual HDD's than where I live. Looks like you will have had about 608 HDD's for November through today. If my house was near yours I would have burned 905 lbs. of coal for November through today, instead of 722 lbs.

I’m sorry miscalculation, I’ve burnt 950 pounds to today.

Your locations average temperature for November is 34.6 degrees.
(65-34.6) x 20 days = 608 HDD's
950/608 = 1.56 lbs. per HDD (rounded)
