Well so much for Fall weather!

Temps in the 80's today. Looks like 70's all week with low's in the mid 60's. The AC is running now. :no1:

I put the Fire View Door on earlier this week. This gave me the first real look at the fire in a few months. It was actually sunk down in the pot on long runs. Friday I lowered the air from 7.5 to 4.5. That helped but not quite enough. Yesterday I lowered it to 3.5. It looks good now, if it stays good we'll leave it.

OK, it's been a cold week. Lets see how bad it was.
IMG_0001.JPG
.JPG | 290.4KB | IMG_0001.JPG
Yesterday we managed to get control of our DHW zone by lowering the setpoint from 130 to 125.
IMG_0005.JPG
.JPG | 361.7KB | IMG_0005.JPG
Now the zone actually satisfies instead of running constantly.
IMG_0004.JPG
.JPG | 265.9KB | IMG_0004.JPG
It's been cold enough that we needed to push heat into the garage just to be sure nothing froze. Nighttime lows in the low 30's and upper 20's. This was accomplished by opening the garage zone at night and closing it in the morning.

We are using the Axeman and the monster radiator to heat the garage by pushing heat from the Van Wert in the basement.
IMG_0009.JPG
.JPG | 328.4KB | IMG_0009.JPG
IMG_0012.JPG
.JPG | 327.5KB | IMG_0012.JPG
Today, I wired up a Honeywell 4006 in the Axeman to operate a zone valve in the basement.
IMG_0010.JPG
.JPG | 275.2KB | IMG_0010.JPG
I have it set to 100 degrees. That should keep the Axeman warm enough. The monster radiator just runs on its own thermostatic zone like normal.
IMG_0011.JPG
.JPG | 387.4KB | IMG_0011.JPG
OK, time to see what the damage is...

832.0 - 769.6 = 62.4 hours, 343.2 pounds, 8.91 hours per day, 49.0 pounds per day. That's a BIG increase!
43.5 pounds of ash plus whatever fell out, 12.7%
IMG_0002.JPG
.JPG | 404.3KB | IMG_0002.JPG
WHOOPS!!! This was one of those 2 ashpan weeks and I didn't know it!
IMG_0006.JPG
.JPG | 350.2KB | IMG_0006.JPG
A bunch fell out when I pulled the pan out.
IMG_0007.JPG
.JPG | 329.6KB | IMG_0007.JPG
It will be a little warmer this week and having better control over the DHW and garage zones should use less coal.

Current settings;

Feed Rate = 5.5 pounds per hour. (Rice coal, 2.0" drive pulley, 25 tooth auger sprocket).
Air = 4.5.
Aquastat = LO = 155, HI = 200, DIFF = 10.
Timer = 2 minutes every hour.

Yesterday we shut down the Van Wert in favor of the Axeman Anderson in the garage.

After 6 days of running this week...
865.2 - 832.0 = 33.2 hours, 182.6 pounds, 5.53 hours per day, 30.4 pounds per day.
Wow, that's pretty good! :D

It's the beginning of February and it's cold out!

I decided to shut down the Axeman out in the garage and fire up the Van Wert!
It will be interesting to see if the Van Wert on the Low & Slow settings will keep up with heating the house, garage and DHW.
