- Other Heating: Oil Hot Water
Almost two year later this is what I did with the project. After getting quotes ranging from about $10,000 for a Keystoker oil hot water with wall registers to a $30,000 radiant EFM DF 520 coal/oil I settled for keeping the existing electric heat supplemented with the Keystoker 90 rice burner. The budget was blown wide open by enclosing a 12' X 12' patio with SW facing large windows to capture sun energy supplemented by a 10' long Comfort Cove radiant heater for $250.00. Electric cost was practically $0 as the sun radiant heat kept it comfortable year round over two years.
What helped is the home isn't occupied so base heat (keystoker 90 and 3 tons of rice) around 62 degrees kept everything balanced and used the existing electric heat set to about 55 degrees as a safety net. So until we reoccupy or rent it, I'll leave it as it is.

Seems like a plan. Why spend $$$$ when its not needed.
