Do they make them?
I guess I'll try and call them. Hard to find stuff when 90% of it is in Pennsylvania.

Yes, they make DHW coils for a number of different coal boilers. Just make sure you know all the correct data of the boiler that the coil will be installed in.
Very friendly and knowledgeable people to do business with.

Beginning on the base. Grinding and sanding all the rust off, then paint. I was able to get all the studs off, it took a lot of patience with a grinder. I tried a cold chisel, but those studs were something else. I've got all new stainless studs on order from fastenall.
What are those two hooks for?

My guess on the hooks would be to hold rods on which the "turbulators" rested. Those were spiral pieces of metal inserted in the firetubes of old EFM's intended to increase heat exchange. In practice I think many people found they caused maintenance issues, and many tube boilers now are used without them.

Pop out the rubber grommet and the housing should accept a threaded male conduit fitting. I just run a short piece to a junction box.

Thanks Rob. It didn't look like it came out. I didn't want to break anything and spend even more money. All set have a BX connector in there now.

Yes. They are a rare sight these days. Must be "fun" trying to put them all back up inside the tubes.

I think I'm in need of a fire door.
The latch was bent badly and it broke while I was attempting to straighten it up. As well, it doesn't close completely.

Scrape that old rope gasket out and the door will probably close fine. The weight of it will hold it closed, and with a fresh gasket it should seal up fine without the latch.

Thanks Rob. Between you and Mike, I'm saving a lot of aggravation.
On a brighter note, I'm done with the base. And have chiseled out the bushings from the boiler. I've got to borrow a 2 and 3 inch pipe tap from work tomorrow the threads on the boiler are horrible.

I've got the old gasket out, man they really get hard and brittle. The cover closes flush now.
I'd still like to find me a latch. I just need the tab that goes on the back of the handle. Anyone know a source?

Plumber, If you can not find one, I could machine one out of steel for you. All I would need is the old part sent to me, so I can get the dimensions off of it.
PM me If you are interested.
Dan.
