LL Outdoor Coal Boiler

I was reading thru the LL website today and came across some info,that there is an outdoor coal boiler in the works. That might be something that many would be interested in. So Matt and Dave ,how is the new project coming along.

Patience Grasshopper!

Ready for a test fire any day now. If it works out I will be running the test unit for the rest of the winter, units for sale will be ready in a month or so on a limited basis. Still working on the package for standard equipment and also the ash removal and external bin feed systems.

Pictures will be posted as soon as I know I'm not going to embarrass myself any more than usual.

Well i'm new here, long time lurker, but this would be perfect for me. Think it would heat a 24x30 garage with in-floor and a 1400SqFt ish house? Id be more than willing to be a test dummy.

Well this is a change(not that I have real experience with any other coal appliance)that is really appealing to myself. I'd really like to see the pic's. Would this be a reasonable unit for about a 2200 sq ft combined space. I'd never want to take someones job, however I'm more than willing to join the club.

USAF, 220K will EASILY heat 2400 sq ft.....idling. That output level will do up to 5000 sq ft, perhaps more under the right conditions. Please post your location....especially since you say you are a lurker. Step out of the shadows, join the rest of us. This outdoor style unit will appeal to many folks who think coal will get all over their homes, and be a black mess.
Remember, you can install most any boiler remotely anyway, but if you MUST have a separate unit, this is the ticket.
All you need to do is think outside the box, and the light will blind you. An ash auger is a special treat for many folks....kinda like power windows vs no power windows.

I'm in Dover DE. I'm not so much worried about the mess, I grew up with wood heat on a farm in upstate NY, but........I fell in love when I was in UT to a city girl. What I like about an outdoor unit is take up no room inside wise, I realize the cost is most likely higher for the unit and needing the lines buried, but probably not far off once a remote building is played in. Still in the thinking stage, hell my garage isn't built yet, still waiting on another quote(had to change the size due to funding). I'd love to see the install requirements for this.

Holy Moly I would love a picture of the outdoor boiler . I am going to install a coal boiler in November. Any chance this will be available in NOV?
I was looking at the WL-110 but like the idea of remote system. I have some Q's about the 110 in the interm. How does it do when fired in the summer for domestic H.W.W? Can it be ordered without a oil burner?

Our township is clearly fighting to keep outdoor boilers from ever happening. When the wife and I went to get a permit to build a new storage shed in our back yard, I was asked straight up by the zoning commissioner if it was intended to house an outdoor boiler. That was the only question they asked regarding its intent, and they asked it first. All other questions were regarding size and location. When I answered no to the outdoor boiler, it was smooth sailing to the permit from there. I have not seen a single outdoor boiler shed in our township. I wonder how common this trend is becoming?
