My chimney is capped too, I personally don't think that a cap would inhibit draft whatsoever.

This is more likely the reason for poor drafting during warm temps outside. Try keeping a window open to the boiler room so air pressure can stay balanced with the outside.

Thats good to know about the cap . I have a walk in basement so I kept the door open with just the screen door shut and really didn't see any difference in the draft in the fire box area , mostly zero unless a breeze would come up . During the winter months it would range from .02 to .04 .

well I'm to the point of chimney time again, still think a class A ss would work ok. I'm going to go to the concrete place up here and price a masonry though, just to compare pricing. LLdealer quoted me $ 790.00 for the power venter, and recommends it over any chimney, for 350.00 more I can have the SS chimney.

When you go, ask them for a name of a masonry man. (brick/block layer who does small side jobs)
