520 making a squeaking when running about every third revolution, broken shear pin last night , any ideas thanks

Rocks in the auger tube can make a squeeking noise. Does the auger turn hard by hand?

Also, the auger can squeek where it passes through the cast iron housing (just before the cotter pin coupling).

Every third revolution or every third power stroke?

You could also have a worn out pot bushing or worm bushing. How much play is there if you try to move the auger up and down above the ash pan?

squeal on the power stroke not as bad as the day has gone on
