isnt this backwards? the manual says "Counterclockwise for less coal feed. Turn RED nut Clockwise for more coal feed. "
====================================================================================

No it is not backwards.

By shortening the stroke turning the red nut in the pusher plate travels
more and it pushes more coal across the fire grate per cycle OR total stroke length-

Think of it this way:

A concrete pump pushes concrete within a set volume. This Volume is the pusher ram connected to the hydraulic cylinder(ram) that pushes the ready mix concrete to where it needs to go.

The faster the rams move the more concrete it pumps. The Keystoker KAA6 pusher plate does the same thing with shorter cycles moving a greater amount of coal per hour than the longer stroke AS the longer stroke makes fewer cycles per hour.

Where do you live that you're not burning yet?

I'm adding a copy of the Keystone Keystoker manual I downloaded a few years ago as reference for anyone who needs it.

Not where you live...that's for sure!! Damn!! I'm in South/Central PA. it's been cold last couple of days but I'm sitting on 1500gal. of propane I'd like to use up a bit. I'm a bit behind the curve for sure, but I'll have it all finished by Christmas.

It's not a bad thing to keep some oil for the chance that something happens to the coal unit. Like my main motor was bad on mine. Covered under warranty but I still had to turn it off to change it.
