I went in from the front and had just enough clearance to center the hook over the pipe on top. I was going to go from the side but couldn't figure out how to do that. I'm still not sure what you mean by a block.

8" cinder block. One under each corner away from the pivot on the lift, Then set the third block in the middle closest to the lift. Move the lift out of the way and lever up the last two corners to put the block under. This is if you are setting your boiler up on blocks. I sort of did a dry run by setting the base on the blocks where they were going to sit, then marked out where the blocks were supposed to end up. Move everything, then lift the boiler high, set the base on the blocks where the floor was marked and set the boiler down into the base, moving the lift as needed. Really was quite easy. :) Stay warm Scott
